Should I be careful when handling Lindab Guttering?

This product can be damaged extremely easily

Lindab Guttering is an awkward one. The 3 metre lengths of gutter and downpipe can be heavy and cumbersome, and extremely easy to damage. Take care not to scratch the paint, or dent the metal. Its perfectly adequate for the job, and once its installed on your property you wouldnt know, but when in transit, this material can be damaged very easily.

Make sure you check your delivery over thoroughly, ensuring that all boxes have been handled with care and there are no visible marks or punctures in any of them. We package the orders as tight as we can to limit any movement, but sometimes you cant prevent some damage that occurs. In this instance, we will do what we can to make sure you are not out of pocket. Once unpacked, and prior to fitting, store pipes and gutters on a flat and stable surface. Non coated products must be un-packed and stored in a dry and well ventilated area.

When cutting the cutter and pipe, we would strongly advise you only use a hacksaw or plate shears. Cut onto a firm base and make sure you protect any painted surfaces with a thick cloth or rag underneath. Never use an angle grinder as the heat produced destroys galvanising properties or any other painted layer therefore removing protection and your lindab guarantee.

Repairs can be made using touch up paint supplied by Lindab to help cover any small compromise or damage in the coating. Use a sponge or the tip of the paint brush supplied. These are available in either 12ml or 250ml pots.

Fastening the gutter and downpipe to the wall via the brackets supplied is fairly straightforward, and we recommend that you use stainless steel screws as fixings of choice. However check the substrate you are fixing to first, to make sure that this is the right application.

Maintaining the system to make sure that it is always in good working condition is key. Once you have installed your new Lindab Guttering we would recommend checking up on it every 6 months. Clean the gutter and pipe from leaves and twigs, washing with water and a mild detergent. Never use a pressure washer and as always, your safety is the number one priority.
