Water Shortages - Do you catch the rain?

The concept is not new, but have we embraced the idea?

As the ongoing water shortage continues (something this country is not very accustomed to) the question is now being asked among many; How regular is this going to become? Are we likely to see this every year? For a country that has so much rain, it seems odd that this could become a reality on an annual basis. Whatever you believe or like to think, with the situation over the last few weeks unfolding, we are unable to turn a blind eye. Natively we don’t like being told that we can`t have something, or that our supply to a resource is limited. Especially with something that is usually in constant abundance that we take for granted.

So, what if you could capture the rain that falls on your property? What if you could store that water for later use? This is not a new idea, and has been available for many years, but in this country the idea has been seen as unnecessary by many, purely since it rains so often. Rainwater harvesting tanks are widely available in the UK, and with different levels of water treatment as options they are a solution that more people are now considering. Once the outlay of the tank and installation are covered, there is relatively low maintenance costs and upkeep for these, enabling you to save in the long run on the amount of water that you use from the mains supply.

Obviously, in all this the constraint is still the supply, in this case, the rain. If we have extended periods of drought, then our own water tanks would dry up too. However, if we all considered this option, then there would be more water available to cover us from this situation from the mains (our reservoirs) during the time it was most needed.

If you haven’t yet considered a rainwater harvesting system, then we recommend you check out this link here, some useful and insightful information we think you need to know.

If you know all about them and are interested in one, do get in touch. Simply click here. We also happen to supply these and can cover installation and maintenance too.
